Street Banners
Celebrating South Melbourne, one banner at a time.
In collaboration with the City of Port Phillip, Experience South Melbourne delivered a vibrant street banner project designed to visually activate Clarendon Street and celebrate the character of our unique precinct..
Installed on light poles along the length of Clarendon Street, the banners feature bold, colourful designs that reinforce the precinct’s identity and create a sense of occasion for both locals and visitors. Whether promoting seasonal themes, key events, or simply celebrating our local community, these banners bring movement, colour, and cohesion to the streetscape.

Purpose & Impact
Add vibrancy and visual interest to key commercial streets
Celebrate community identity and local character
Support placemaking efforts that encourage exploration and visitation
Create a sense of unity and pride among traders and locals alike
Street banners are a simple yet powerful tool for creating a welcoming and polished main street environment. As they change throughout the year, they help mark the rhythm of the precinct—celebrating everything from cultural moments to citywide events.

Where You’ll See Them
The banner installations span multiple blocks of Clarendon Street, strategically placed to maximise visibility for foot traffic, public transport users, and passing vehicles. These banners are part of a broader streetscape improvement strategy to enliven and brand South Melbourne as a vibrant destination.

Looking Ahead
We’re continuing to work as your Business Association to evolve and refresh banner designs in alignment with key campaigns, seasonal moments, and community initiatives ensuring our streets remain dynamic and expressive, year-round.
